Nature's first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf's a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.
The moon could be given a slight glow around it and it so could the fire to make it more imposing. Also theres some varying colors in flames, but I love the movement you gave it. It just needs to be pushed some with colors.
I know that anime cell shading is great and all, but I think sometimes it would look better with more details or colors.

I swear, the skin color looks different depending on the angle that I look at my screen (this seems to be a recurring problem that I have). I'll change the color around and see what it looks like. Yeah, I also seemed to have forgot my moon glow (thanks for reminding me about that
I'm not exactly sure how to do anime-style fire. A couple of anime with it are just lazy and go with the yellow fire by itself or god forbid, the yellow ball (you know what I'm talking about). I'll look that up later and see what I can do about it.
As for the cell-shading, I don't think that I'm good enough to move onto more detailed shading/lighting. My goal eventually is to be able to get that watercolor-like feeling to my drawings. It also could be that I just don't have alot of experience to doing backgrounds and what not. I was too lazy to go look on the web for a reference picture for the background.
I was going to plan to put the character off to the side, but damn, I really didn't want to put in more carpet, since it would require me to put more carpet designs/patterns in. Those damn Persian/Asian-style carpets would take me at least a few more hours of work for putting in more complex patterns and what not.
Meh, I guess you're right about the background - this was a mediocre background job, but do you think that the character still looks fine? Hopefully my skills haven't rusted that much in the half year or so that I haven't touched my drawing notebook/tablet.
So if you can, check back in a day or so - I'll have made some corrections by then.

Don't ever get the idea in your head that you're not ready. Art has to be experimented with so if you don't have the experience now you won't have it later. So start trying to imitate it now. Also it doesn't have to be anime style fire. Just look at a fire on google image and translate it yourself. But it's always best to capture it in it's original form before translating.
Don't forget we have to learn original before we learn the new. once we conquer real forms and objects we'll be able to transition are self better with art or styles. Because styles or just variations of the forms in are world. No matter how whimsical it is.
But anime attracted a lot of people to art. But it also confuses people on the bases. Because it seems like people try to base their self of the art style instead of the base.
I think you have some good textures in this drawing. The character is a little off proportionally. Some of things I can see off the bat is the head kinda bigger than it should be for the body and her left hip goes into the floor somewhat. I think the hip would be lifting her a little more while she used her arm for support.

Guess I'll just have to put this one on hold then.
